2011 AIANC Eastern Section College Scholarship Golf a Rousing Success!
The Fifth Annual AIANC Eastern Section College Scholarship Golf Outing was held on April 21st and the event had a full field of enthusiastic golfers. 40 players turned out at the Neuse Golf Club in Clayton, NC and the course, as usual, was in great condition. The day began with overcast skies, and after a brief rain delay, the tournament was in full swing and everyone was having a great time. When all the score cards were turned in, the winning team of Pastor Ron Lapping, Pastor Tommy Batts, Pastor Gary Lee, and Pastor Mark Coburn, or as they were affectionately called “Gods Team,” had shot a 9 under 63 to capture first place. The day was capped off by a raffle and a wonderful meal of barbecue and fried chicken.
There were 12 hole sponsors for this year’s event and with the help of our premiere sponsor, Garland Roofing, we are very close to reaching our goal for the fifth straight year. These funds will allow the Eastern Section to continue our student scholarship commitments to NC State University and the University of North Carolina – Charlotte.
I again want to thank all of the players who joined us on the course; the hole sponsors for their generous donation, the Neuse Golf Club for hosting the event, and to the Executive Committee for their help. I would also like to give a huge “thank you” to Rob Banks and Garland Roofing for remaining a premiere sponsor for this event. We really appreciate your continued support. Thursday, April 19, 2012 is the date for next year’s event so please put it on your calendar. We hope to see everyone for another beautiful day of golf and professional fellowship.
